THE COURSE

The high specialization course – Stauffer Artist Diploma in Cello of the Stauffer Academy is an annual program for gifted and talented young musicians.

The course is held by M° Antonio Meneses.

Duration: one academic year

Period: from October 22 to May 23: 3 days of intensive session once per month

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The course is open to Italian and foreign citizens.

Age limit: 30 years (for new enrollments)

Level of training:

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree
  • Students of higher courses and candidates who, regardless of their qualifications, meet exceptional requirements may also be admitted.

Language: Italian and English

DEADLINES AND DOCUMENTS

Application deadline: 23:59 CET on September 19, 2022.

Applications submitted after the deadline won’t be accepted.

Application mode: through the “Apply” section of this page. Applications sent by email or transmitted through other channels won’t be accepted.

Required documents:

  • copy of a valid identity document
  • copy of degree, if in possession (or equivalent certificate)
  • curriculum vitae
  • repertorie of the admission exam
  • receipt of payment of administrative fee

Administrative fee:

A fixed administrative fee of €50.00 by bank transfer (net of any currency and commission charges) is required to finalize the application. Full details on how to proceed with payment can be found in the full application regulations (downloadable below).

The fee is non-refundable.

SELECTIONS

The admission exam will be held in presence on October 11, 2022 from 10 a.m. in Cremona, at Palazzo Stauffer (Via San Martino, 6).

Program

  • J.S. Bach: a Suite of your choice (BWV 1007-1012). performance by heart is recommended
  • First movement of a Cello concerto from the major repertoire
  • A sonata, or a similar piece for cello and piano (Concerto and Sonata should be from different periods)
  • A capriccio of Alfredo Piatti or a study of David Popper

The Professor may require the candidate to perform the entire program or a part of it.

The selection is at the unquestionable discretion of the Professor.

Candidates will receive the results of the selections at the e-mail address provided during registration.

Piano accompanists

The Stauffer Academy provides an accompanying pianist during the entrance examination. It is not possible to rehearse with the pianist before the exam.

If the candidate wish to be accompanied by a pianist from outside the Academy, his or her name should be indicated by e-mail to accademia@stauffer.org, attaching a copy of his or her ID.

COSTS

The course is entirely free of charge.

However, it should be noted that the students are responsible for their own costs relating to travel, accommodation and board in Cremona, as well as other personal expenses.

NEW ENROLLMENTS AND CERTIFICATES

At the end of the course, the student has the opportunity to renew his or her enrollment for a new academic year by submitting the request through the “Apply” section (as if it were a new enrollment). At the end of the entrance examinations, the Professor decides at his sole discretion which students to readmit.

Students who apply for readmission are exempt from the selection examinations. Any exceptions are reported by the Professor.
At the end of the studies, a Diploma is issued and, at the proposal of the Maestro, a certificate of merit, if any.

AUDITORS

The course may be attended by a limited number of auditors, who will be admitted at the sole discretion of the Professor.
