THE COURSE
Recording basics for musicians: An inside look into the commercial recording process
A special Lab to discover what lies behind the work of a music producer together with David Frost, winner of 20 Grammy Awards and collaborator with labels such as Sony Classical, Decca Classics, Deutsche Grammophon, EMI and many others.
This lab will cover a detailed look at the roles of the recording producer, engineer and recording artist and what knowledge musicians need to know before entering a professional recording session. Basic information concerning the process such as schedules, venues, budgets and how microphones work will be discussed. How musicians can prepare and save their energy during a session, and how they can participate in the process in the most beneficial way will be covered. Several actual recording sessions will be held, with the possibility of covering the role of the recording artist and the producer. This will give the participants an experience from both sides to better understand the important relationships necessary for a successful and satisfying recording experience.
