An exclusive contemporary music workshops with the soloists from Ensemble intercontemporain, one of the most important heralds of contemporary repertories in the world. During the EIC residency, students will be able to work with leading experts in contemporary repertoire through a series of masterclasses, ensemble rehearsals, and concert opportunities with faculty, studying the languages of today’s music and performance techniques.
This year, focus will be on violin and cello, solo and duo repertoires.
During this workshop, students will work on the following repertoire:
Violinists:

P. Boulez: Anthèmes I
Other solo pieces composed after 1975
Cellists:
L. Berio: Sequenza XIV
P. Boulez: Messagesquisse 1 – 6 (cello ensemble)

Violin & Cello Duo:
M. Ravel: Sonate for violin and cello
L. Berio: Duetti for 2 violins (arranged for violin & cello)
The workshop is held by Hae-Sun Kang (violin) and Renaud Dejardin (cello), soloists of the Ensemble intercontemporain
Duration: 5 days
The course is open to violinists and cellists, either solo or in duo.
Violists, double bassists and piano accompanists are encouraged to apply as well

Administrative fee:
A fixed administrative fee of €50.00 by bank transfer (net of any currency and commission charges) is required to finalize the application. Full details on how to proceed with payment can be found in the full application regulations (downloadable below).
The fee is non-refundable.
The admission exam consists of a video audition. The candidate must create a link to a YouTube video, to be included in the application form, specifying in the description the program performed. At this link you can find all the directions for making a video that meets all the requirements.
Program
A piece of your choice, for solo instrument or with accompaniment, or a duet for violin and cello, or a chamber music piece, written after 1975.
The course is entirely free of charge.
However, it should be noted that students are responsible for their own costs relating to travel, accommodation and board in Cremona, as well as other personal expenses.
The course may be attended by a limited number of auditors, who will be admitted at the sole discretion of the Professors.
