THE COURSE

The course, led by Salvatore Accardo, is aimed at violinists with exceptional artistic qualities, committed to establishing a professional career. Through an integrated curriculum that includes individual lessons with the Professor, meetings with renowned artists and teachers, and extensive opportunities for public performances, the course aims to consolidate the technical and interpretive skills of the students, widen their repertoire, and promote their beginning to an artistic and professional career.

 

The course is structured in 8 monthly sessions, scheduled between October 2024 to June 2025, with intensive sessions of 3 days per month, and includes the possibility of re-enrollment for a new academic year, at the discretion of the Professor.

 

Maxim Vengerov, this year’s Guest Professor, will hold a special masterclass for a selection of the course students.

Masterclasses led by Massimo Quarta and Marco Rizzi are also scheduled.

The course offers the possibility to participate in Chamber Music masterclasses with Andrea Lucchesini and Enrico Pace.

 

The course pianist is Maria Grazia Bellocchio.

 

DEADLINES AND DOCUMENTS

Application deadline: 11:59 pm on September 9, 2024.

 

The course is open to students of all nationalities, not older than 30 years on the application deadline date (for new enrollments).

 

The following documents should be attached to the application:

  • Copy of a valid identity document;
  • Copy of degree, or self-certification of course of study;
  • Curriculum vitae and any repertoire already studied;
  • Audition programme.

SELECTIONS

Admission examinations will take place on September 30, 2024, exclusively in person at the Stauffer Academy, Via S. Martino 6, Cremona.

 

Examination programme:

  • J.S. Bach: two movements from a Sonata or Partita for solo violin;
  • W.A. Mozart: one movement from a concerto of your choice from No. 3, 4 or 5 (K 216, K 218, K 219);
  • First movement of a repertoire concerto;
  • N. Paganini: a Capriccio of your choice.

The Professor may require the candidate to perform the entire programme or a part of it.

Candidates will receive the results of the selections at the end of the admission exams, by e-mail.

 

Piano accompanist

Stauffer Academy provides an accompanying pianist during the admission exam. It is not possible to rehearse with the pianist before the exam.

Should the candidate wish to be accompanied by his/her own pianist, his/her name should be communicated by e-mail to accademia@stauffer.org, enclosing a copy of his/her ID.

 

COSTS

A registration fee of €55.00 is required for the application. The fee is non-refundable.

 

The tuition fees are entirely supported by the Stauffer Foundation.

 

Other costs related to travel, board and lodging in Cremona and other personal expenses are borne by the students themselves.
