THE COURSE

The course is aimed at violinists with exceptional artistic qualities, committed to establishing a professional career. Through an integrated course that including individual lessons with the Professor, meetings with renowned artists and teachers, and extensive opportunities for public performances, the course aims to consolidate the technical and interpretive skills of the students, widen their repertoire, and promote their beginning to an artistic and professional career.

Guest Professor is Maxim Vengerov, for a Masterclass dedicated to selected students of the course.

Duration of the course

October 2024 to June 2025, with intensive sessions of 3 days per month.

In addition to individual classes, various integrative activities are planned, including in-depth masterclasses with guest professors, concerts, and artistic projects, open to all students.

 

The course includes the possibility of re-enrollment for a new academic year, at the discretion of the Professor.

 

Age limit: no more than 30 years old on the application deadline date (for new enrollments)

DEADLINES AND DOCUMENTS

Application deadline: 11:59 pm on September 3, 2024.

 

The following documents should be attached to the application:

  • Copy of a valid identity document
  • Copy of degree, or self-certification of course of study
  • Curriculum vitae and any repertoire already studied
  • Audition programme

 

Administrative Fees

A fixed administrative fee of €55.00 (required upon submission of the application, after filling out the form) is required to finalize the application.

The fee is non-refundable.

SELECTIONS

Admission examinations: September 30, 2024, from 10 a.m.

Examinations are held exclusively in person at the Stauffer Academy, Via S. Martino 6, Cremona.

 

Examination programme:

  • J.S. Bach: two movements from a Sonata or Partita for solo violin
  • W.A. Mozart: one movement from a concerto of your choice from No. 3, 4 or 5 (K 216, K 218, K 219)
  • First movement of a repertoire concerto
  • N. Paganini: a Capriccio of your choice

The Professor may require the candidate to perform the entire program or a part of it.

Candidates will receive the results of the selections at the end of the admission exams, by e-mail.

 

Piano accompanist

Stauffer Academy provides an accompanying pianist during the admission exam. It is not possible to rehearse with the pianist before the exam.

Should the candidate wish to be accompanied by his/her own pianist, his/her name should be communicated by e-mail to accademia@stauffer.org, enclosing a copy of his/her ID.

COSTS

Attendance costs are borne by the Stauffer Foundation.

Other expenses related to travel, lodging and meals in Cremona, and other personal expenses, are borne by the students themselves.

NEW ENROLLMENTS AND CERTIFICATES

At the end of the course, the students can renew their enrollment for a new academic year by submitting the request through the “Apply” section (as if it were a new enrollment) and paying the administrative fee.

At the end of the admission examinations, the Professor decides which students to readmit.

Students who apply for readmission are exempt from the admission examination.

Any exceptions are to be reported by the Professor.
