Stauffer Academy is pleased to host for the Creative Associates course Aleksey Igudesman, a versatile composer and violinist, who will lead the workshop entitled “Strings of the World.”
Using classical and ethnic music, as well as his own eclectic compositions and improvisation, Aleksey Igudesman will explore different performance techniques, mixing them with movement and dance. Together with students he will delve into rhythm outside the common classical repertoire, analyzing alternative sound production and stylistic ornaments of Indian, Arabic, Celtic, Balkan, klezmer, jazz and rock music.
The course will be held July 10-15, 2023 at the Stauffer Center for Strings.
