Caroline Shaw, one of the major American composers of her generation, will lead a Composition Lab at Accademia Stauffer in Cremona this May!
This course is open to young composers and string players.
Caroline is the recipient of the 2013 Pulitzer Prize in Music, several Grammy awards, an honorary doctorate from Yale, and a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship. In 2022 she won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Classical Composition.
The Lab will explore the links between composition and performance: the students will have the opportunity to measure themselves with Shaw’s compositional style and discover new techniques and sonic languages under the guidance of this extraordinary composer.
The course will be held from the 29-31 May 2023 at the Stauffer Center for Strings.
