Gabriela Montero‘s visionary interpretations and compositional skills have earned her critical acclaim and a devoted following on the world stage. Anthony Tommasini noted in the New York Times that “Montero’s playing has it all: a rhythmic and crackling panache, subtle nuances, steely power …” soul “lyricism … expressiveness without sentimentality“.
Winner of the prestigious Heidelberger Frühling Music Prize 2018, Montero recently debuted with the San Francisco Symphony (Edward Gardner), the New World Symphony (Michael Tilson Thomas), the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony of Tokyo (Aziz Shokhakimov), the Orquesta de Valencia (Pablo Heras-Casado) and with the Bournemouth Symphony (Carlos Miguel Prieto), as Artist in Residence in the 2019-2020 season.
