Miguel da Silva won first prize in the International Chamber Music Competition in Paris in chamber music and viola. His passion for string quartet led him to found the Ysaÿe Quartet with 3 of his friends. After winning first prize in Evian, the members of the Ysaÿe Quartet soon began an international career that took them all over the world, from Japan to America. This brilliant 30-year career came to an end in January 2014 after a major concert series.
Miguel da Silva’s engagements both as a soloist and as a member of his quartet took him to most of Europe’s biggest concert halls. He has toured in Belgium, the United States, Japan and Italy. A member of ECMA and artistic director of the Villecroze Music Academy, Miguel da Silva teaches in Geneva and Paris, and is a master in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium.
