Born in 1994,\u00a0Andrea Obiso<\/strong>\u00a0is one of the youngest violinists in the world that received his first major degree with honors and special mention at only fourteen years old.<\/p>\n

Considered by critics an\u00a0\u201cenfant prodige\u201d, he began studying violin with his father at age six and after a year he made his debut recital with his mother, pianist.<\/p>\n

Being very fast at mastering the instrument, Andrea made his debut as a soloist at age thirteen with the\u00a0\u201cFondazione Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana\u201d\u00a0performing H. Vieuxtemps Violin Concerto No. 5.<\/p>\n

Andrea Obiso won the\u00a0\u201c66th\u00a0ARD International Competition 2017\u201d\u00a0in Munich (Germany) where he also won the special prize for the best performance of the world-premiered work \u201cFor Solo Violin\u201d written by Avner Dorman.<\/p>\n

Andrea was awarded 1st\u00a0Prize and Public Prize at the\u00a0Prix Ravel 2017, 2nd\u00a0Prize at the\u00a0\u201cXI A. Khachaturian International Violin Competition\u201d,\u00a0the \u201cSpecial Prize for Virtuosic Performance\u201d at the\u00a0\u201c6th Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians\u201d\u00a0in Korea. He was a semifinalist at the\u00a0\u201cShanghai Isaac Stern International Violin Competition\u201d\u00a0and winner of eleven first prizes in national competitions.<\/p>\n

Andrea is an \u201cArtist Diploma\u201d student at the world-renowned \u201cCurtis Institute of Music\u201d\u00a0in\u00a0Philadelphia\u00a0where he studies with\u00a0Aaron Rosand\u00a0under the\u00a0\u201cEileen Rosenau Fellowship Program\u201d. Furthermore, he studies conducting, counterpoint in composition, improvisation and aesthetics of music with the professors and his mentors\u00a0Jonathan Coopersmith,\u00a0Noam Sivan\u00a0and\u00a0Ford Lallerstaedt.<\/p>\n

From 2005 to 2015, he has been the youngest student admitted to the\u00a0Accademia Chigiana\u00a0in Siena (Italy) in the studio of\u00a0Boris Belkin, with whom he studied also at the\u00a0Maastricht Conservatory.<\/p>\n

He has received musical advices and collaborated with Lilya Zilberstein, Antonio Meneses, Augustin Hadelich, Bob McDonald, Peter Wiley, Arnold Steinhardt, Ignatius Solzhenitsyn, Ida Kavafian, Roberto Diaz, G\u00e9rard Poulet, Olivier Charlier, Philippe Graffin, Isabelle Duha, Alexis Galperine, Bruno Pasquier, the Eb\u00e9ne Quartet, Mikhail Kopelman, Kimiko Nakazawa, George Pehlivanian, Steven Mercurio, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Michael Francis, Vladimir Spivakov, Andrea Licata, Stefano Ranzani and Nicola Paszkowsky.<\/p>\n

He has an impressive solo and chamber music repertoire. His list of\u00a034 violin concertos includes those of Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Sibelius, Saint-Saens, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Paganini, Glazunov, Dvorak, Strauss, Prokofiev and many others.<\/p>\n

His most important performances have happened with the Bayerische Rundfunk Symphonie Orchester, Muenchener Kammerorchester, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Central Aichi Symphony Orchestra of Japan, Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma, State Youth Orchestra of Armenia, Orchestra del Teatro Bellini di Catania, Orchestra Filarmonica di Bologna, Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, Orkest der Lage Landen, Moscow Virtuosi, Orchestra del Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Limburgs Symfonie Orkest, Orchestra Arturo Toscanini di Parma and \u00a0\u00a0many others, always acclaimed \u00a0by public and critics.<\/p>\n

He has participated in several TV Shows and Radio Programs on BR-KLASSIK\u00a0in Germany, on RAI 1 in Italy, and was a guest artist in many prestigious festivals as the \u201cFestival of the Two Worlds\u201d in Spoleto, the \u201cFontainebleau\u00a0 Music Festival\u201d in Paris, \u201cSagra Malatestiana\u201d in Rimini and the \u201cLinari Classical Music Festival\u201d in Florence.<\/p>\n

In earlier seasons he made his debut in Moscow, at the Kremlin, with\u00a0\u201cThe\u00a0Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra\u201d\u00a0and\u00a0Vladimir Spivakov, conductor, then in Japan and China. His 2016-2017 season kept Andrea on Tour in Europe, in Latin America (Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile) and to make his debut at\u00a0the\u00a0Herkulessaal\u00a0and\u00a0at\u00a0Gasteig Philarmonie\u00a0in Munich. In 2018 Andrea toured Germany and Finland. He also made his debut at the prestigious\u00a0Berlin Philarmonie\u00a0with the Deutches Symphonie Orchester Berlin presented and\u00a0recorded by\u00a0Deutschlandfunk Kultur.<\/p>\n

Andrea Obiso has just been appointed Concertmaster of the\u00a0Orchestra dell\u2019Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. He will share the position with\u00a0Carlo Maria Parazzoli.<\/p>\n

Andrea Obiso currently plays on a\u00a0\u201cJoseph Guarneri del Ges\u00f9 1741\u2033\u00a0violin, gracefully loaned by \u201cNPO Yellow Angel\u201d and uses a \u201cE. Pajeot\u201d bow loaned by \u201cNippon Violin Co. Ltd.\u201d<\/p>\n
