On 10 July 2026<\/b>, the Giovanni Arvedi Auditorium<\/b>\u00a0at the Museo del Violino<\/b>\u00a0hosted the concluding concert of Kurt\u00e1g 100<\/i><\/b>, a project dedicated to the centenary of Gy\u00f6rgy Kurt\u00e1g\u2019s<\/b>\u00a0birth and developed through the longstanding collaboration between the Stauffer Academy<\/b>\u00a0and the Ensemble intercontemporain<\/b>.<\/p>

Four musicians from the French ensemble \u2013 Jeanne-Marie Conquer<\/b>\u00a0and Diego Tosi<\/b>\u00a0(violins), Odile Auboin<\/b>\u00a0(viola) and Renaud D\u00e9jardin<\/b>\u00a0(cello) \u2013 spent several days in Cremona working with Stauffer students on the programme before sharing the stage with them for the final concert. The residency also featured lectures by musicologist Philippe Alb\u00e8ra<\/b>, one of the foremost scholars of contemporary music and the twentieth-century avant-garde.<\/p>

Born in Hungary in 1926, Gy\u00f6rgy Kurt\u00e1g<\/b>\u00a0is widely regarded as one of the most important living composers and one of the defining voices of post-war European music. His unmistakable musical language, often distilled into brief, intensely concentrated forms, has profoundly influenced generations of performers and composers alike. Every note seems to carry the weight of a memory, a dedication or a fleeting thought. His music brings together memory, emotional intensity and spiritual reflection in a poetic universe that continually oscillates between contemplation and restlessness, the earthly and the transcendent.<\/p>

The programme brought together some of the most significant works from Kurt\u00e1g\u2019s catalogue, from the dazzling 12 Microludes<\/i>\u00a0for string quartet to Officium breve<\/i>, his deeply personal homage to composer Endre Szerv\u00e1nszky, and selections from Signes, Jeux et Messages<\/i>, the cycle of solo pieces that accompanied almost his entire creative life like a musical diary. Completing the programme was Gy\u00f6rgy Ligeti\u2019s String Quartet No. 1, M\u00e9tamorphoses nocturnes<\/i><\/b>, a work that illuminated the artistic and cultural landscape from which one of the most fertile periods of twentieth-century European music emerged.<\/p>

Kurt\u00e1g 100<\/i><\/b>\u00a0continued the Stauffer Academy\u2019s exploration of the leading figures of contemporary music in partnership with the Ensemble intercontemporain<\/b>, following Boulez 100<\/i><\/b>, the project presented in 2025 to mark the centenary of Pierre Boulez<\/b>.<\/p>

The concert also marked the conclusion of the 2025\/2026 season of I Concerti della Stauffer<\/i><\/b>, a journey that, concert after concert, reflected the essence of the Academy\u2019s educational vision: making concert performance the natural culmination of artistic training while fostering a vibrant dialogue between professors, young musicians and audiences.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
