Massimo Quarta will share his exceptional expertise as both a concert violinist and pedagogue in this intensive short course, dedicated to the artistic and technical preparation of concert performance.
Under his guidance, students will enhance their technical skills and deepen their interpretative insights into the repertoire, with a focus on achieving excellence in performance.
Winner of the Paganini Prize in 1991, Massimo Quarta has been described by the American Record Guide as “the embodiment of elegance.” His innovative interpretation of the Italian virtuoso repertoire has established him among the most distinctive violinists of his generation.
The masterclass is structured into two separate sessions, each lasting four days, and is primarily intended for musicians enrolled in the Advanced Programmes at the Stauffer Academy, but it is also open to external students.
For Stauffer students:

All the students enrolled in the Annual Advanced or Ad Hoc courses can apply
For external applicants:
- Age no older than 30 on the starting day of the masterclass;
- Academic diploma in music (Bachelor or Master), or equivalent qualification.
Admission is subject to a selection based on a video recording.

- Personal data;
- A copy of a valid identity document;
- Curriculum vitae, including any relevant repertoire already studied;
- A link to your video recording.
The requirements for video recordings are described on this page. The video should be uploaded to YouTube, with a clear description of the performed repertoire.
Video programme requirements:
Two contrasting works (from different periods or styles), for a total duration of approximately 10 minutes.
The results will be communicated to the email address provided in the application form.
A non-refundable registration fee of EUR 55.00 is required when submitting the application. Online payment is activated once the application has been submitted.
Students already enrolled in the Advanced Programmes of the Stauffer Academy are exempt from the application fee.
Tuition fees are fully covered by the Stauffer Foundation; travel, accommodation and living expenses in Cremona are to be borne by the students.
