The Stauffer Academy at the Amsterdam Cello Biënnale

From November 3rd to 6th, the Stauffer Academy will be the protagonist at the Cello Biënnale in Amsterdam, one of the most important international events entirely dedicated to the world of the cello. With a rich program of concerts, masterclasses and events in the prestigious Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, the Biennale represents a fundamental point of reference for great soloists, schools of excellence and young talents on the global music scene.

In this context, the Stauffer Academy will participate with six students from the class of Maestro Frans Helmerson — Luís Dias Canali, Davide Cellacchi, Chiara Kaufman, Mattia Midrio, Giada Moretti and Alessandro Sacchetti.

The Stauffer’s presence will be divided into two events in the Kleine Zaal of the Muziekgebouw. On November 5th at 7:00 pm, the six students will gather in chamber formation for a concert featuring performances of pieces from the repertoire of Antonín Dvořák, Edvard Grieg, David Popper, and Modest Mussorgsky, testifying to the artistic maturity and high level of Stauffer’s academic career. On November 6th, at 5:00 PM, in collaboration with the “Antonio Stradivari” Luthier Consortium, four cellos created by members of the Consortium will be presented. Stauffer students will perform them live, offering international audiences the opportunity to appreciate the timbral, acoustic, and expressive qualities of each instrument. An event that celebrates the deep connection between musical interpretation and the great Cremonese artisanal tradition.

Participation in the Cello Biënnale confirms the international vocation of the Stauffer Academy and its constant commitment to enhancing the young talents and excellence of Italian violin making on the most prestigious stages in the world.
