The Accademia Stauffer continues to collaborate with the most prestigious istitutions in the musical world: to conclude the 2022/23 academic year, the Stauffer Ensemble – a formation that brings together some of the best Stauffer alumni – debuted at the Royal Opera House Muscat, one of the most renowned stages in the Middle East.
The Royal Opera House Muscat, one of the most important cultural and artistic production centers in the Arabian Peninsula, has rapidly established itself as one of the points of reference in the sphere of musical art at an international level. In over ten years, ROHM has brought the most important opera companies and orchestras to Oman, including many world-acclaimedartists. The 2022/23 season includes, among others, the Teatro alla Scalain Milan, the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and the Deutsche Oper in Berlin.
The Accademia Stauffer is present for the first time in such an exclusive season. The musicians involved (all of them students of the Stauffer Professors Salvatore Accardo, Bruno Giuranna, Rocco Filippini, Antonio Meneses and Franco Petracchi) are remarkable soloists, leadinginstrumentalists of important orchestras and established chamber musicians: a unique formation of its kind.
The artists involved are the violinists Gabriele Ceci, Fabrizio Falasca, Laura Marzadori, Liù Pelliciari, Anastasiya Petryshak, Giulia Rimonda, Riccardo Zamuner, Edoardo Zosi, the violists Benedetta Bucci, Daniel Palmizio, Franesco Venga, the cellists Fabio Mureddu and Erica Piccotti, the double bass player Tommaso Bagnati and harpsichordist Luigi Accardo.
The concert program on 5 May was dedicated to the Baroque and contemporary repertoire: the young musicians played Antonio Vivaldi’s “Le Quattro Stagioni” and Astor Piazzolla’s “Quatro Estaciones Porteñas”. The violinists of the Stauffer Ensemble alternated on stage, each one in the role of a soloist, to perform the eight concertos for violin and orchestra.
Furthermore, on 4 May the Stauffer Ensemble and the representatives of the Fondazione Stauffer participated in an appointment at the Italian Embassy in Oman, in support of the candidacy of Expo Roma 2030. The occasion offered the opportunity to present the didactic project of the Stauffer Academy and illustrate the statutory purposes of the Fondazione, which continues its international development strategy launched with the inauguration of the Palazzo Stauffer and the expansion of the educational offer.
