A musician with both a modern and baroque approach, the profoundly humanist conductor Jean-Christophe Spinosi is pursuing a brilliant international career.
At the head of his Ensemble Matheus, he regularly performs at prestigious venues such as the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Theater an der Wien, the Salzburg Festival, the Liceu in Barcelona, and the Staatsoper in Berlin. He creates many unique and unconventional projects that blend baroque repertoire with contemporary music and street artists.
The symphonic and operatic worlds quickly opened their doors to him, acknowledging the boldness of his interpretations. He is frequently invited to conduct some of the world’s leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, Orchestre de Paris, Berlin Radio Symphony, SWR Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Symphony, Berlin DSO, Vienna Radio Symphony, National Orchestra of Spain, Monte-Carlo Philharmonic, HR-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, New Japan Philharmonic in Tokyo, Osaka Philharmonic, among many others, performing in major international theatres and festivals.
He has appeared at such iconic venues as the Berlin Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall in New York, Palais Garnier in Paris, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Staatsoper in Vienna and Berlin, Royal Albert Hall and Barbican Centre in London, and Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow.
Jean-Christophe Spinosi has recorded an impressive discography with labels such as Naïve, Deutsche Grammophon, and Decca. His recordings have enjoyed great success and won numerous international awards. He regularly collaborates with world-renowned artists including Cecilia Bartoli, Philippe Jaroussky, Rolando Villazón, Janine Jansen, Maxim Vengerov, Maria João Pires, Natalie Dessay, Marina Viotti and Jakub Józef Orliński.
