The Stauffer Center for Strings is the first international music center for higher education, research, composition, production and management dedicated entirely to stringed instruments.
The center was founded in 2021 in Cremona, in the headquarters of Palazzo Stauffer (formerly Palazzo Stradiotti), an iconic historic building renovated and converted into a multifunctional campus. Today the building houses the Stauffer Academy and the Stauffer Labs (departments dedicated to creativity and innovation), including an exclusive concert hall, a series of study rooms / classrooms, a recording studio, a multimedia library, a cafeteria and a guesthouse immersed in an enchanting romantic garden.
The Stauffer Center aims to stand out as an advanced and innovative platform of artistic cooperation, a dynamic hub dedicated to fostering, supporting and accompanying the artistic and professional growth of new generations of musicians. It’s a place where artists, teachers and students alike can meet, share ideas, and express their talent and creativity. Cultural diversity and gender equality are core values.
All the center’s programs, including the entire curriculum of the Stauffer Academy, are available to a select number of young artists, musicians and professionals of extraordinary talent through full scholarships, a unique opportunity in the field of advanced musical training.
Respect for artistic and cultural heritage, attention to environmental sustainability and the adoption of cutting edge digital technology are the principles that guide the center in its quest to strike the ideal balance between tradition and innovation.
The Stauffer Center for Strings promotes the Sustainable Development Goals sanctioned by the United Nations, supports equal opportunities, and encourages multicultural and intergenerational dialog, all while contributing to the growth of an open, participatory and inclusive artistic and social vision.
The structure includes an exclusive music hall, a series of classrooms and practise rooms, a recording studio, a digital media library and a cafeteria, set in a charming romantic garden.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 with the aim of ending poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring peace and prosperity for all humanity by 2030.
Artistic excellence, inclusiveness, and passion for music are the fundamental elements that drive the spirit of the Stauffer Center for Strings, a place designed to nurture talent and welcome the best young musicians from around the world.
