The Center

The Stauffer Center for Strings is the first international music center for higher education, research, composition, production and management dedicated entirely to string instruments.

The Center was founded in 2021 in Cremona, in the headquarters of Palazzo Stauffer (formerly Palazzo Stradiotti), an iconic historic building renovated and converted into a multifunctional campus. Today the building houses the Stauffer Academy and the Stauffer Labs (departments dedicated to creativity and innovation).

The building includes an exclusive concert hall, a series of study rooms and classrooms, a recording studio, a multimedia library, a cafeteria and a guesthouse immersed in an enchanting romantic garden.

The Stauffer Center aims to stand out as an advanced and innovative platform of artistic cooperation, a dynamic hub dedicated to fostering, supporting and accompanying the artistic and professional growth of new generations of musicians. It’s a place where artists, teachers and students can meet, share ideas and express their talent and creativity. Cultural diversity and gender equality are core values.

All the Center programs, including the entire didactic offer of the Stauffer Academy, are entirely free of charge for a selected number of young artists, musicians and professionals of extraordinary talent. This is a unique opportunity in the field of advanced musical training.

The respect for artistic and cultural heritage, the attention to environmental sustainability and the adoption of cutting edge digital technology are the principles that guide the Center in searching for a perfect balance between tradition and innovation.

Sustainable Development Goals

The Stauffer Center for Strings promotes the Sustainable Development Goals, adopted by the United Nations in 2015, aiming at ending poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring peace and prosperity for all of humanity by 2030. The 17 objectives are integrated and indivisible; they must all be achieved to balance the three dimensions of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental ones. The Stauffer Center for Strings promotes SDGs by supporting equal opportunities, encouraging multicultural and intergenerational dialogue, providing free access to all its academic programs, contributing to the growth of an open, participatory and inclusive vision, that has to be artistic and social. The Center also adopted an energy efficiency protocol, choosing to be a plastic free structure.
